Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

Is there any benefit to registering early?
Yes. Early Registration Fee is $325 per player from February 15th until April 15th. Normal Registration Fee is $345 per player from April 16th to June 15th.

Late Registration Fee is $365 per player from June 16th to July 15th. (Possible Waiting List)

Are there any registration discounts?
There is a discount of $20 for each additional child registering and a family maximum of $1,000. 

How and when can I register for the upcoming season?

Early registration for the 2010 season opens online on February 15th, 2010. You can register online or check our calendar for normal and late registration dates.

How old does a player have to be to play?

We have teams for players aged 6 to 14.  For the 2010 Season, the playing age of the player is their age as of December 2, 2010.  A player must be at least 6 to be eligible for participation.  The player’s weight and age determine the division they will play in. Please check the registration page for this chart.

What are my payment options?
For your convenience, we accept credit card payments online.

What is your cancellation policy?

If a player registered with the Packer organization wishes to discontinue and requests a registration refund, a full registration refund minus a $50 administrative processing fee will be refunded to a player prior to the first certification date. Once a player has been certified, there will be no refund of any fees if a player chooses to discontinue participation in the Packer organization.   

What does registration pay for?
Registration pays for the use of helmet, shoulder pads, game pants, practice jersey and practice pants that are to be returned at the end of the season. Registration also covers the game jersey, team photos and end of the season trophy that your player will keep at the end of the season.

Will I get a registration confirmation?
Yes. If you have registered online, at the end your the online registration process, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

I have multiple players registering. Can I register more than one player at a time?
Yes. When registering online, once you have input your player #1 information, the system will ask you if you would like to add additional players.

Can I change my personal account information?
Yes. We ask that you update your personal information additions or changes on the system. This is especially important if your e-mail or contact information changes. You can access your account at any time to do this.

 

2010 Season

How long is the season?
The season begins with a two week Packers Training Camp which will start on Monday, July 26, 2010.  Training camp will be held Monday to Friday from 6-8pm. Team Practices will start August 9th and run five days a week until school begins. Games are every Saturday through playoffs, which can run into the first week of December. Check the calendar section for more specific dates as it is updated frequently.

When are team/coaches/players be assigned?
The coaches will be drafting August 5th through 7th. The team/coaches/player assignments will be posted on this website on August 8th at 5:00pm.

What do I need to purchase for the season?

You will need to purchase football cleats, girdle, kneepads, hip pads and tail pads. Chicks offer a discounted pads package for all Packer players. More information to follow.

When do practices start?
Mandatory Training Camp will start Monday July 26, 2010.  Team practices will start the week of August 9th and run everyday weekday evening for two hours until school starts. Once school starts, practice may be cut down to less than five days a week.

When/what is the summer Packer Training Camp?
Training camp is a two week non-contact training/conditioning session which will be held from 6-8pm at the Packer practice fields - Arroyo Vista Park. The camp will give the player a good overview on the fundamentals of football and will include conditioning. All levels are required to participate traning camp, however, the player must be registered for the upcoming 2010 season, have paid their registration fees in full and will have the signed physical form turned in prior to July 16th to participate.

What should I bring to the clinic?
The suggested attire for the clinic is football cleats, a white t-shirt and shorts. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early so your player can check in before the clinic begins. Be sure to bring plenty of water.

Our son has never played before, is that a requirement?
Absolutely not. Moorpark Packers is a safe, football friendly environment where your player can learn the fundamentals of the game. We provide players with skills needed to succeed in life also. We encourage life skills such as teamwork, discipline, responsibility, respect, family values, and, of course, hard work.

What if our family is on vacation during summer practices?
Although we encourage family time together, the elements of practice that your player will be missing out on do have a huge impact on your player and the team. We ask that you arrange family vacations around the football requirements outlined. Because every player will be developing important fundamentals during this time and because each player's role on the team is so important, attendance for all football practices is imperative.

When are the teams formed?
Teams will be formed during the week of August 5th through August 7th. Teams/Coaches/Player assignments will be posted on the website on August 8th at 5:00pm. Coaches will be notifying their players of their assignments during this time.

What division will my player be in?
The age/weight chart determines the division that your player will be in. You can find this chart on the registration page of the website.

Is Pre-Season Training necessary?
A solid off-season training regimen can give youth and high school athletes an edge and help prevent injuries when the next season begins. For more information regarading pre-season training, please visit the "Documents" section of this website and open "Pre-Season Training."

What is the X Rule?
As provided in the GCYFL rules, up to 3 players who exceed the maximum weight for thier age are allowed play.  These players must wear an "X" on thier helmet and are subject to restrictions.  The rules and restrictions for players in the Senior Division that exceeed the maximum weight are located in the "Documents" section of this website under the heading of "X Player Rules".  This rule only applies to players in the Senior Division and does not apply to lower divisions

During the registration process there are endless opportunities to volunteer with the Moorpark Packers Organization. We welcome you to volunteer in some capacity. If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer with the organization and would like to, please call our hotline at 1-888-315-7188.

Do you offer any type of financial assistance?
Yes. There is a limited amount of financial assistance available for players who qualify.
